Job Description

We have an opportunity for a Transmission Engineer to join their team. The Engineer provides expert judgment and analysis for the design, development and implementation of technical products and systems. Resolves highly complex technical issues and conducts advanced research. The Engineer recommends alterations to development and design to improve quality of products and/or procedures. Has extensive engineering knowledge and is considered an expert in one or more engineering specialties. The Engineer is a specialist on complex technical and business matters. Work is highly independent. The position will be expected to lead projects and oversee work of the CAD team as well as more junior engineers.

Duties & Responsibilities
 
  • Create detailed electrical system layouts, plans, material lists, and construction arrangement drawings for the build out and upkeep of utility transmission and distribution substation facilities.  
  • Develop design packages including general arrangement, ground grids, conduit layouts, elevation views, bill of materials, conduit schedule and equipment specifications. 
  • Engineer and design transmission lines that are safe, economical, and adhere to accepted engineer practices. 
  • Collaborate and provide technical direction to clients, peer engineers, designers, and drafters. 
  • Mentor and review work of subordinate engineering professionals. 
  • Assist with scopes, estimates, schedules and proposals as necessary. 
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned. 
 
Required:
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering
  • 10 Plus years of Utility design experience (focus on Transmission design)
  • PE
  • Understanding of the utility power grid (power generation, transmission & distribution system)
  • Ability to read and understand documents such as policy manuals, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  
  • Ability to calculate forces acting on structures and equipment, resolve geometric and trigonometric problems to calculate geographical position and direction of forces.  
  • PLSCADD knowledge
Job order details:
This person needs to work independently and oversee work of the drafting team as well as more junior engineers on the project. Client interaction will be expected. The focus of the role will be creating Transmission Line Design work though some substation design will get mixed in as well

Salary-$90,000+
Location Remote (GA, NC, SC, TN, AL)
