Technical Buyer (Heavy Industrial Equipment)

I have a client in the Houston, TX area that has an immediate need for a Technical Buyer. This role can be performed in Atlanta, Houston or Denver.

Responsibilities:
  • The Technical Buyer needs an understanding of a typical workflow involved in the Procurement of goods and/or services for large industrial projects throughout the Supply Chain flow process.
  • Must understand the spare part / After Sales business and identify new suppliers.
  • The Technical Buyer will also receive, verify and understand fabrication schedules and will communicate to the project the feasibility of the provided schedules.
  • Transcribe and develop scope description, validate supplier, and confirm pricing and lead time
  • Generate purchase order including commercial terms and technical notes
  • Include documentation package (drawings, parts lists, specifications, etc.)  

Requirements:
  • Understanding of the fabrication process for Heavy Industrial equipment
  • Knowledge of supply chain process related to the internal work flow of instructions from business front end through operations and to procurement.
  • Ability to collaborate and build professional rapports with supply base (ie. Vendors), and to influence the communication to produce the desired positive outcome.
  • 2 Plus years of similar experience as a buyer/procurement manager

Preferred Experience/Additional Information:
  • Looking for candidates with heavy industrial/bulk material handling experience.
  • 5 plus years of experience within expediting and fabrication.
  • Proficiency with SAP MM module
  • Experience in cement or mining industries, or other plant technology industry.
  • Our client specializes in Cement and Mining facility engineering/design work. Generally, they are building or upgrading cement plants, chemical plants, coke plants, fertilizer plants mining systems and some oil and gas work. All Heavy Industrial.
  • The Technical Buyer will also receive, verify and understand fabrication schedules and will communicate to the project the feasibility of the provided schedules.
  • 25% in North America generally home on the weekends

Pay Range:
  • $35-50 per hr. DOE
