Job Description

Needed Immediately: A Substation Design Engineer in Bremen, GA.  The Physical Design Engineer for the EPC Division is a degreed or technical experience engineering position responsible for supporting all aspects of physical substation design from front end sales efforts, throughout the project duration, and back end project management support for high voltage EPC substations.

The Physical Design Engineer will have an active role in helping develop substation proposals, bills of material, procurement, and overall design opportunities for ongoing EPC and Package projects.

Required:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering preferred, Technical Degree equivalent
  • Substation Design
  • Familiar with AutoCAD Design Software
  • Willing to Travel (around 25%)
Job Details:
  • Review equipment specification/data sheets for proposal support.
  • Technically evaluate vendor proposals for major equipment
  • Implement vendor drawings into project design.
  • Gain knowledge of various substation design and implementation to physical design needs for EPC projects.
  • Support Pre-bid meetings and customer meetings for design and work scheduling.
  • Develop engineering expertise to either design or oversee subcontractor field support.
  •  Develop and maintain a system for evaluating design quality control and metrics for long term management of design group (internal or external).
  •  Provide proper documentation for project drawings and other project documentation.
  •  Develop working relationships with vendors and leverage those relationships for project improvement.
  • Provide cost efficient design methods on all EPC and Package projects.
  • Develop skills in design to provide a Bill of Material for EPC and Package projects.
  • Develop working knowledge project operations to ensure proper design techniques are perfected.
  •  Provide design support for project management team.
  •  Develop skills to write technical documentation for various project needs.
  •  Work closely with Project Management to provide cost effective design changes and updates.
  • Oversee full project physical design efforts.
