Structural Engineer
(Northeast Metro Birmingham, AL)
We have a great career opportunity for a Structural Engineer working for a growing consulting company in the Birmingham Alabama area.
The Structural Engineer Responsibilities Include:
* Overall, perform structural analysis, studies, engineering, and documentation for a variety of residential, commercial, and industrial construction, and renovation projects
* Provide engineering and consulting support for new and existing building structural design, structural and material failure investigations, condition assessments, analytical studies, building rehabilitation analysis and design, specialty structures, and shop drawings
* Collaborate with other engineering disciplines, architects, contractors, manufacturers, and customers to deliver accurate products within budget, schedule, and requirements
* Apply and use structural engineering principles, calculations, practices, statics, and solid mechanics for stress, strain, beam loads, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
* B.S. Degree, Civil or Structural Engineering or similar engineering discipline
* E.I.T. certificate with the ability to obtain P.E. License within a year or less
* Working knowledge and proficiency with
* 8+ years of commercial, industrial, and residential project structural analysis, studies, engineering, and documentation for a variety of construction and renovation projects

John is originally from the Tidewater Virginia area and moved to Georgia for college where he majored in Electronics Engineering Technology. For fifteen years, he worked in television news broadcast engineering where he worked his way into technical project management until a layoff. After a few years operating a small business franchise, he found his way into an engineering and technical recruiting career where he could apply his technical and customer service backgrounds in a new industry for the next fifteen plus years to present day. His education and work experience as a technical project manager provides him unique insight into a variety of roles and success in finding great candidates for his clients. His career in technology, technical management, and technical staffing spans 25+ years.
When John found himself looking for a new opportunity, his search led to him joining the Selectek team in June 2021.
John lives in North Metro Atlanta where he spends his time with his wife and daughter. They enjoy kayaking on area lakes, hiking, bicycling, and all things pets and animals.
