Selectek is seeking a Structural Engineer for a contract-to-direct role with one of our partnering companies near Alexandria, Virginia. This firm specializes in building rehabilitation and restoration, so candidates will be working more with existing structures than new building design.
Employment Type: Contract to Direct
Location: Alexandria, VA
Expected Pay Range: $33-$41 before permanent hire conversion based on experience and certification level
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering
- 1-8 years of structural design experience
- Proficiency with Revit
- Expertise in Bentley programs like RAM Steel or RAM Concept
- Knowledge of building codes including IBC, ASCE 7, ACI, and AISC
In addition to these requirements, candidates must be eligible to work in the United States as Selectek is unable to provide sponsorship or work visa documentation.
Job Duties:
- Work on design projects for commercial, retail, government, hospitality, education, and historic buildings
- Designs will be mostly repairs and updates of existing structures, from tenant fit-outs up to joining buildings together Â
- Perform structural analysis
- Ensure projects comply with relevant codes and standards
- Coordinate with team members and project managers with progress updates
- Visit work sites frequently for building assessments, garage surveys, and other field inspections
Schedule:Â Â Monday-Friday, flexible start time with core hours of 9:00a-5:00p. Hybrid schedule with minimum of three days in the office, but the firm estimates that 50% of work hours will be done on sites, so schedules may change week to week.Â
