Job Description: We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for analyzing drawings, specifications, RFPs, proposals, and other documentation to prepare material quotes, direct costs, and labor estimates for projects and services. This role demands an in-depth knowledge of Building Automation or Facility Control Systems for Mission Critical or Advanced Manufacturing Infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform preconstruction engineering reviews and assessments of plans and specifications.
  • Review customer information to determine material and labor requirements and prepare itemized lists.
  • Compute cost factors and prepare estimates for planning, organizing, and scheduling work; preparing bids; selecting vendors or subcontractors; and determining cost-effectiveness.
  • Utilize estimating tools to develop quotes and update pricing databases from quotes received on each bid.
  • Consult with clients, vendors, and internal resources to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
  • Participate in pre-submittal meetings to review material costs and substantiate labor estimates.
  • Organize and manage a process to support cost estimating, ensuring historical data is utilized.
  • Analyze completed projects to compare estimated costs to actual costs and determine the reasons for any discrepancies.
  • Provide cost estimates and proposals for change orders, typically needed within one day.
  • Recommend improvements to cost estimating procedures to reduce future discrepancies between estimated and actual costs.
  • Identify cost trends to assist management in cost reduction and process improvement efforts.

Required Qualifications:
  • Experienced knowledge of Building Automation or Facility Control Systems for Mission Critical or Advanced Manufacturing Infrastructure.
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Proficiency in providing take-offs of P&IDs for process and mechanical systems.
  • Knowledge of PLC and/or DCS Systems.
  • Familiarity with Instrumentation and Control Valve Products.
  • Experience in developing complex estimates from 30%, 60%, and 90% design status.
  • Ability to multi-task and meet strict deadlines.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Proficient in pdf applications such as Bluebeam and Adobe.
  • Engineering Degree or related work experience.
Salary Range:
  • $80,000- $110,000
