Selectek has an immediate need for a Sr. Controls Engineer to join our team in Germantown, WI.
Required:
  • Electrical Engineering degree from a four-year college or university
  • 6+ years of related experience. Entry-level with some experience.
  • Knowledge and experience programming Rockwell PLC’s (Studio 5000) & Rockwell HMI’s (Factory Talk View ME)
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Solid Works Electrical a plus
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Essential job functions and experience needed:
1)            Rockwell PLC programming (Studio 5000)
2)            Rockwell HMI programming (FactoryTalk View ME)
3)            Schematics design (AutoCAD or Solidworks Electrical)
4)            Specifying controls parts for a machine (BOM)
5)            Designing control panel layouts
6)            Troubleshooting skills (hardware and software)
7)            Some technical writing of manuals
8)            4-year engineering degree
Responsibilities:
  • Designs electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic control equipment and systems and specifies components, programs, and field commissions systems and machinery for the converting industry.
  • Drafts using Solidworks Electrical and AutoCAD for schematics and layouts for controls, instruments, and systems. Systems will typically be for electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic controls and drive systems.
  • Uses computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform design and documentation tasks.  This will include, but not be limited to, bill of materials, CAD drawings, interconnect spreadsheets, and operator manual documents.
  • Assists with activities to ensure that design, manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing conform to functional specifications and customer requirements.
  • Develops software programs for control systems and machinery.  This includes programming PLCs, operator interfaces, and drives.  Typical machine programming software is Rockwell Automation, but it may consist of other software.
  • Very proficient with Rockwell Automation software.
  • Troubleshoots systems (hardware and software).
  • Research new products and parts.
  • Will act as lead engineer on most assigned projects and assist level I, II, and service engineers.
  • Designs and directs engineering personnel to fabricate test control apparatus and equipment and determines methods, procedures, and conditions for testing products.
  • Directs and coordinates operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment and systems in floor or field installations.
  • Provides operator training to customers on machinery.
  • Performs field startup of equipment and field service calls.
  • Familiar with the National Electric Code (NFPA 70) and the Electrical Standard for Industrial Machinery (NFPA 79).
  • Works with customers to resolve technical issues and concerns.  Responds to and resolve service calls from customers.
  • Assists the CSI Manager in providing technical direction and component selection for Controls Engineers and department standards.  Provides estimates of electrical engineering content and proposed architectures for future projects in place of the CSI Manager when necessary.
  • Assists CSI Manager and Sales with customer meetings and sales presentations.
  • Follows all company policies and procedures.

Pay Rate:
  • $42/hr. - $52/hr.

Shift and Hours:
  • Monday -Friday
  • 4 days (10 hours) OR 5 days (8 hours)

Type of Job:
  • 6 Months temp to perm.
