Job Title: Senior Mechanical Engineer
Location: Phoenix, AZ 
Compensation: $110,000 – $150,000+ annually, commensurate with experience
Employment Type: Full-Time

About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Phoenix, AZ. This is an onsite position, supporting one of the most advanced semiconductor manufacturing facilities in the world. The role involves leading the design and engineering of highly specialized mechanical systems within contamination-controlled environments. You’ll take ownership of technically challenging projects, mentor junior engineers, and contribute directly to the success of complex, multi-billion-dollar semiconductor programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead design and delivery of mechanical systems for semiconductor tool installations, cleanrooms, and high-tech facilities.

  • Develop utility matrices and point-of-use (POU) connections for process utilities (PCW, exhaust, gases, drains).

  • Engineer complex HVAC systems optimized for vibration, acoustics, EMI/RFI, and cleanroom environments.

  • Design and oversee process water and exhaust systems, including UPW, industrial water, chemical delivery, and hazardous production material (HPM) exhaust.

  • Perform thermodynamic, hydraulic, and psychrometric analyses to optimize performance and efficiency.

  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and codes (ASHRAE, ASME, NFPA, SMACNA, SEMI, etc.).

  • Lead design reviews, HAZOP studies, and interdisciplinary coordination with electrical, process, structural, chemical, and controls teams.

  • Conduct site walks, field verifications, and provide engineering support during construction and commissioning.

  • Mentor and guide junior engineers, promoting technical excellence and best practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.

  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in Arizona, or ability to obtain reciprocity within a reasonable timeframe.

  • Extensive mechanical engineering design experience in semiconductor, cleanroom, or high-tech industrial facilities (e.g., pharmaceutical, biotech).

  • Proficiency with hydraulic modeling software (e.g., PIPE-FLO, AFT Fathom, AFT Arrow).

  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, fire protection (coordination level), UPW, PCW, and process exhaust systems.

  • Expertise in relevant codes and standards (ASHRAE 62.1, 90.1, cleanroom standards, NFPA, IMC, SEMI standards).

  • Proven ability to perform field verifications and resolve complex technical issues in real time.

  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Revit.

  • Prior experience with design-build and fast-track semiconductor tool installation projects.
