Senior Mechanical Engineer – HVAC (Industrial Focus)

Location: South Carolina (Greer or Augusta area)
Relocation Assistance: Considered for strong candidates
Employment Type: Full-time

We are partnering with a well-established engineering consulting firm to identify a Senior Mechanical Engineer (HVAC) with a strong industrial and process-driven background. This role is ideal for a seasoned engineer who enjoys leading complex projects from concept through construction and collaborating across multiple disciplines.

This position plays a key role in the planning, design, and execution of industrial and commercial HVAC and mechanical utility systems, primarily supporting chemical, manufacturing, and heavy industrial facilities.
Key Responsibilities
  • Independently evaluate, select, and apply engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria across multiple concurrent projects
  • Apply sound engineering judgment to adapt and modify designs to meet project needs
  • Lead mechanical project efforts, coordinating with Electrical, Structural, Architectural, and Process disciplines
  • Match project scope and deliverables to established schedules and budgets
  • Design industrial and commercial HVAC systems, including:
    • Industrial ventilation
    • Heating and air conditioning systems
    • Dust collection systems
  • Design mechanical utility systems, including:
    • Chilled water
    • Cooling tower water
    • Heating water
    • Steam and condensate
    • Compressed air
    • Natural gas and water systems
  • Perform mechanical calculations such as:
    • HVAC load calculations
    • Air and water pressure drop calculations
  • Generate construction-ready drawings and specifications suitable for bidding and installation
  • Deliver projects using AutoCAD and Revit
  • Organize, prioritize, and manage workload across multiple projects in a fast-paced consulting environment
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • 10+ years of HVAC engineering experience supporting industrial, chemical, or manufacturing facilities
  • Strong experience delivering projects using AutoCAD and Revit
  • Proven ability to lead mechanical projects and mentor junior engineers
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Plumbing and Fire Protection systems
  • Background in engineering consulting firms
  • Experience with oil & gas, chemical, or heavy industrial projects
