Sr. Civil Engineer – Jacksonville, FL

Salary: ~ +/- $140,000--$170,000 (Depending on experience)
Employment Type: Direct Hire (Hourly or Salary, based on preference)

About the Opportunity
A respected and expanding engineering firm is opening a new office in Jacksonville, FL, and is seeking a Sr. Civil Engineer to join their growing team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for the origination and review of civil design work, including criteria, engineering studies, calculations, drawings, and specifications. The ideal candidate will have experience in residential and multi-family development, small-to-medium commercial sites, and institutional campus improvements.
As part of this growing office, you will have the opportunity to contribute directly to the firm’s success while working in a collaborative, dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design Origination & Review: Lead the development of civil designs, including criteria, engineering studies, calculations, drawings, and specifications
  • Project Management: Oversee projects from concept through construction completion, ensuring design excellence and timely delivery
  • Field Inspections & Investigations: Conduct site visits to ensure project adherence to specifications and compliance
  • Code Compliance & QA: Manage quality assurance processes and ensure adherence to code requirements, regulatory practices, and industry standards
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other engineers, architects, and construction teams to deliver successful project outcomes
  • Permit Submittals & Reviews: Prepare and review technical reports, permit applications, and regulatory submissions

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License
  • 10+ years of experience in civil engineering, specifically with residential developments, multi-family developments, commercial sites, and institutional campus improvements
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D
  • Experience in land development: including layout, grading, storm drainage design, utility design, erosion control, road networks, and project specifications
  • Ability to manage projects from concept to construction, including submittal of permits and regulatory compliance

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience with medical buildings, educational facilities, religious structures, mixed-use buildings, retail centers, or automobile dealerships is a plus
  • Experience with code compliance and permitting in the Jacksonville area is ideal
