Senior Civil Design Engineer – Charlotte, NC Area

Pay Rate: ~ $40-50+/HR (Negotiable, DOE)
Location: Charlotte, NC 28262
Work Schedule: Day Shift (Overtime possible)

Position Overview:
We are seeking a Civil Design Engineer to independently manage and lead commercial land development projects. This is an excellent long-term career opportunity for someone with expertise in site design, including grading, drainage, stormwater management, and erosion control, to contribute to large-scale projects in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop commercial land development projects (no residential work)
  • Handle all aspects of site design: layout, grading, drainage, utilities, stormwater management, and erosion & sedimentation control
  • Collaborate with clients and team members throughout all project phases from schematic design to construction administration
  • Provide mentorship to junior staff as you grow into a potential leadership role
  • Ensure all designs meet current codes, guidelines, and best practices in stormwater management
  • Occasionally travel locally to project sites (minimal)

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering
  • ~ 7-10 years of experience in site design (grading, drainage, utilities, stormwater management, etc.)
  • Proficient in Civil 3D and related design software
  • Knowledge of current codes, design guidelines, and stormwater management practices
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications:
  • PE License (Professional Engineer)
  • Experience in design-build and commercial development projects
  • Strong leadership potential for mentoring junior staff
