Job Description

Selectek is seeking an R&D Mechanical Engineer to participate in the design, development, and maintenance of mechanical systems for sophisticated floor covering manufacturing equipment.   This includes new product development, maximizing customer uptime on existing installations, and targeted continuous improvement projects.

Required:
  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university
  • Minimum 10 years of previous design and analysis of rotating machinery including
    • Vibration analysis and measurements
    • FEA analysis of component structures
    • Component failure analysis
    • Application of hydrodynamic bearings
    • In depth knowledge of strength of materials
    • Knowledge of component manufacturing processes including castings, forgings, machining, welded structures, stamping, injection molding, extrusions
    • Multi-bar motion analysis
    • Component dimensional verification tools
    • Gearing and belt drive elements
    • Power and loss analysis, cooling systems
    • Exposure to operator safety requirements
    • Exposure to mechatronics and automation components
    • Vendor/Supplier verification
    • Familiarity with actuation elements (pneumatic, hydraulic, electro-mechanical)
  • Proficient in computer aided design and modeling software
  • Ability to work in a team environment interacting with both internal and external customers
  • A self starter with a substantial passion for attention to detail.

Preferred:
  • Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or mechatronics.
  • PTC (Pro-E) experience
  • Experience with Mathcad
  • Knowledge of carpet tufting equipment or industry
  • Experience with testing protocols and concepts in accelerated life testing
Pay range: $100,000 - $110,000
