Our client is a large manufacturing facility that is looking to hire a Quality Specialist who would focus their efforts working as a Continuing Improvement supervisor specifically for their welding and paint operations division. The role will stabilize and improve processes for the welding/paint department on both existing lines and new upcoming projects. Essential to the job will be using root cause analysis to improve quality improvements as well as continuous improvements of the paint and welding divisions.
The role will review the processes in place and set up new work instructions and work procedures that will be more effective. Once this is done they will help train the production team on the new procedures and their importance. They may work with large problems using root cause analysis or work in Kaizen improvements. This position will need to also be able to conduct time studies to determine how best to make improvements. This role is a management role and will have two direct reports who will act as continuous improvement technicians.
Typical job functions will be:
-Engage in line balancing activity and time standard evaluation to improve the quality of the product and process for welding and paint operations
-Complete root cause analysis of data to develop and implement mistake-proofing processes
-Development and implementation training
-Monitor process controls, facilitate 5S, Kaizen and process improvement activities.
-Conduct process capability studies and implement control systems for critical processes.
-Develop and maintain final, sample and in-process inspection criteria.
-Assist in root cause analysis and resolution of market problems.
-Complete quality improvement projects as assigned and compile progress and summary reports on project status
-Assist in the start-up of new models and projects and supply support as needed to in-process inspectors.
-Must understand and implement Statistical Process Control (SPC) principles.
-5 Plus years of experience in technical continuous improvement role for a Manufacturing firm with hands on experience working on the floor.
-3 Years as the Lead for the Continuous improvement team
-Some Management/Leadership Experience
-Ability to Read Blueprints
-Manufacturing experience for Welding/Paint Procedures or Automotive experience highly preferred.
-Advanced Education (Industrial Engineer highly preferred)
-Experience with Welding Systems Highly Preferred
