Job Description

Selectek is partnering with a company based near North Augusta, SC to hire a Product Design/Process Improvement Engineer to work on upgrading existing products as well as the production procedures.  

Employment Type: Contract to Direct
Location:  North Augusta, SC
Expected Pay Range: $40-$45 per hour prior to conversion, based on certifications and experience
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00a-5:00p onsite

Job Duties/Details:
  • Product Design and Development:
  • Lead the design and development of new products from concept to production.
  • Utilize CAD software to create detailed engineering drawings
  • Prototype and test new designs, ensuring they meet all functional and safety requirements.
  • Process Improvement:
  • Analyze current manufacturing processes to identify areas for improvement.
  • Implement Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles to optimize efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Develop and document new processes to enhance product quality and production speed.
  • Manufacturing and Production:
  • Oversee the production of prototypes and final products, ensuring adherence to design specifications.
  • Work closely with the production team to ensure seamless transition from design to manufacturing.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise during the production process.
  • Technical Expertise:
  • Apply knowledge of sewing and RF sealing techniques to the design and manufacturing processes.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies to incorporate into product designs.
  • Provide technical support and training to production staff as needed.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including sales to ensure product designs/work packets meet customer needs and market demands.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed project documentation and reports. Required:
    • Proven experience in product design and process improvement within a manufacturing environment.
    • Proficient in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks).
    • Hands-on experience with sewing and RF sealing technologies is a plus.
    • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think creatively.
    • Excellent project management and organizational abilities.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies is a plus.
    Schedule:  Monday-Friday, 8:00a – 5:00p.
