Mechanical Estimator (HVAC)

Location: Greenville, SC
Industry: Industrial & Commercial Construction / MEP

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Estimator (HVAC) to support large-scale industrial and commercial construction projects. This role plays a critical part in the success of complex ground-up builds by delivering accurate, competitive, and timely cost estimates that drive strategic bidding and project execution decisions.

The ideal candidate has a strong background estimating mechanical systems for high-value projects and thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced MEP environment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze and interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical drawings to develop detailed mechanical cost estimates.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs and calculate labor hours, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs for HVAC, piping, and plumbing systems.
  • Prepare and submit competitive bid proposals for large industrial and commercial projects.
  • Evaluate and price change orders, design revisions, and scope adjustments.
  • Collaborate closely with Project Managers and Assistant Project Managers to refine estimates and support proposal strategy.
  • Maintain and update cost databases, vendor pricing, and historical project data.
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings, site walks, and client presentations as needed.
Project Focus
  • Ground-up construction projects including hospitals, schools, laboratories, and large institutional facilities
  • Typical project values of $50M+
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of 7 years of mechanical estimating experience within industrial, commercial, or MEP construction environments.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, construction methods, and applicable industry standards.
  • Proficiency with estimating software such as Bluebeam, Trimble, QuoteSoft, or similar tools.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
