Job Description

Selectek has an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Design Engineer in Birmingham, AL. In this role, you will work with a leading supplier of thermal imaging systems and industrial process monitoring equipment. You must be a US Citizen or authorized to work in the United States to be considered.
Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining AutoCAD drawings for customer projects and product development.
  • Ability to design and draft electrical, mechanical, and control drawings.
  • Establish a Bill of Materials for each project.
  • Coordinate with the supervisor to ensure tasks are completed on time.
  • Effective communication with the supervisor regarding the time needed for engineering tasks and when they will be fully completed.
  • Should be a self-starter that has strong engineering skills so that tasks can be completed on time.
  • Effective communication in meetings(phone or face to face) and in emails.
  • Drawings/documentation must be effective in communicating details to the appropriate audience(for example, customer, machine shop, engineer, or technician accordingly)
  • Ability to work on several projects in parallel that are in various phases as the position is 75% engineering/drafting.
  • Work with the supervisor to discuss project details and assist in addressing questions.
  • Responsible for ensuring all equipment sold is properly documented before shipment and saved correctly.
  • Review, comment, and approve applicable submittal drawings.
  • Design part drawings and create assembly drawings as needed with little supervision.
  • Preparation of sales drawings as needed.
  • Maintenance of document control for all in-house drawings and documents.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Strong design engineering and drafting skills
  • Proficient with AutoCAD and/or AutoCAD LT software
Shift Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm
Pay and Wages: $50,000 - $75,000 annual salary depending on education and experience
