Tool & Die Estimator 


Pay Range:
  • $29 – 39/hr, dependent on experience

Summary:
  • We are looking for an Estimator who can quote material and labor costs for tool & die and progressive metal stamping projects in response to requests for proposals and calculates cost based on analysis of project specifications, pricing schedules for labor and materials, and historical data.
  • This position analyzes post production costs and uses data to inform future project estimates.
  • The Estimator position will be filled by a detail-oriented individual with excellent communication skills who is a proven problem solver.

Job Duties:
  • Reviews the information supplied by customers to ensure all necessary information and specifications to complete quote are included. May rely on similar quotes for consistency.
  • Creates or works with engineering department to create "strip layout."
  • Creates quote spreadsheet indicating customer, quote number, year etc. as provided by production system; saves to quote folder. Audits and ensures quote number is correct.
  • Inputs material, labor and any other specifications required to complete the quote.
  • Selects suppliers for material, plating and/or other outside service needed to complete the quotes. Submits requirements, quotes and due dates to vendors.
  • Evaluates drawing requirements.
  • Reviews vendor bids and selects vendors based on price, delivery and or quality history.
  • Meets with suppliers to review capabilities and establish a relationship as requested.
  • Interfaces with other individuals in the organization to obtain support and commitment for the cost estimates.
  • Works closely with Engineering VP, Customer Service, and Sales in order to create the best estimate possible for the projects being quoted.
  • Participate in activities to increase personal skill level, overall departmental processes and product quality.
  • Keep work area neat and orderly.
  • Receive and understand written and oral instruction.
  • Communicate all concerns and other work-related issues to supervisor.
  • Complete all paperwork associated with position.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures including safety.
  • Other duties required to meet company needs as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements:
  • 2+ years experience working in a manufacturing environment (laser cutting and metal fabrication a plus)
  • Basic knowledge of Excel (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Shop Edge a plus)
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining organization
  • Math abilities including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and fractions
  • Good communication skills including the ability to receive oral and written instruction and provide information to outside vendors, customers, employees and management
  • Wide range of product knowledge including customer requirements, company capabilities
  • Ability to travel to local suppliers as needed
  • Very HIGHLY preferred if you have Progressive Tooling or Progressive Stamping experience
