Job Summary:

Selectek is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our client’s team in Birmingham, AL. The Manufacturing Engineer will focus on continuous improvement efforts across manufacturing operations, with a key emphasis on cost-effective solutions to support key performance indicators (KPIs) such as labor costs, scrap reduction, and quality improvements. This position will be responsible for analyzing existing processes, leading Kaizen events, and implementing 5S programs to optimize efficiency in a manufacturing cell-based environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the development and implementation of a 5S program.
  • Plan, organize, and lead Kaizen events to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Analyze and improve manufacturing processes to meet and exceed KPI targets.
  • Support plant operations by identifying opportunities for cost savings, scrap reduction, and quality improvements.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and corrective actions for manufacturing non-conformances.
  • Develop and implement capital expenditure projects to improve manufacturing efficiency.
  • Create and update work instructions, standard work, and process flow documentation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize manufacturing equipment and assembly processes.

Requirements:
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing 5S and Kaizen methodologies.
  • 3+ years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering, Continuous Improvement, or Quality Engineering.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, particularly in root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
  • Experience with mechanical assembly, fabrication, and value stream mapping.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent experience may be considered).
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated experience in improving labor costs, scrap savings, and overall product quality.
  • Leadership experience in Kaizen events and process improvement initiatives.
  • Experience working in a cell-based manufacturing environment.
Location: Birmingham, AL
Salary: $80,000 plus 5% bonus
Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 4:30 PM CST
