Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Machining Estimator/Coordinator to join our team in the Northern Chicago Metro area. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in a machine shop environment and will be responsible for quoting, cost estimation, and coordinating machined parts. This role involves collaborating with vendors, engineering, and project management teams to ensure accurate and timely delivery of components for various projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Request quotes for machined parts from multiple vendors to meet project specifications and timelines.
  • Accurately estimate manufacturing costs for machined parts, taking into account material, labor, and machine processing times.
  • Enter and maintain part manufacturing processes in the ERP system (Global Shop or equivalent).
  • Coordinate the receipt and organization of parts for assembly, ensuring all parts are accurately tracked and located within the ERP system.
  • Collaborate with engineering and project managers to prioritize quotes and part orders for projects.
  • Process purchase orders for manufactured parts and coordinate with vendors for timely delivery.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with machine shops to establish long-term business partnerships.
  • Communicate with vendors and the internal machine shop to resolve any questions related to prints, tolerances, or specifications.
  • Expedite parts as necessary to assist production in meeting customer expectations.
  • Perform job costing for manufactured parts and close work orders upon project completion.
  • Assist in process improvements to enhance efficiency within the company.

Personnel Interaction:
  • Collaborate with Purchasing, Manufacturing, Assembly, Engineering, Tech Support, and Shipping/Receiving departments.

Performance Measurements:
  • Maintain 95% accuracy in parts order processing.
  • Ensure 100% “direct entry” processing of work orders and purchased part stock.
  • Ability to work within company rules and regulations.

Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in a machine shop environment, with hands-on CNC or related equipment experience preferred.
  • Experience with ERP systems (Global Shop or equivalent).
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • High level of verbal communication to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Working knowledge of Windows operating systems.
Salary Range: 
  • $60,000- $80,000

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate’s degree in a related field.
  • Experience with ERP software such as Global Shop.
