Civil Engineer – Water/Wastewater (Sanitary Pump Station Design)
Location: Chattanooga, TN

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Civil Engineer with deep expertise in water and wastewater engineering—specifically in the design of sanitary sewer pump stations and related infrastructure. This is a unique role for an experienced professional to not only lead design efforts but also help shape and grow this area of the business.

Our client is a well-established civil engineering firm with a long track record of delivering successful projects across Tennessee and the surrounding states. As a smaller but growing firm, they pride themselves on offering personalized service while tackling challenging and impactful projects in site development, utility planning, and water resource management. They are now expanding their team to include a subject matter expert in sanitary pump station and storm tank design.

Key Responsibilities
  • System Design: Lead the design and oversee construction of water and wastewater pumping stations and distribution networks.
  • Technical Analysis: Perform hydrological and hydraulic modeling to evaluate system performance and identify efficiencies.
  • Compliance & Regulations: Ensure all designs meet environmental regulations, protecting public health and the environment.
  • Project Management: Manage projects from concept through completion, including budgets, schedules, and coordination with contractors and government agencies.
  • Data & Modeling: Analyze water use data to forecast demand and manage water resources.
  • Business Development & Client Relations: Network with municipalities, utilities, and local officials to help grow the firm’s workload and foster long-term relationships.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering
  • 10+ years of experience in Water/Wastewater Design
  • Extensive experience with Sanitary Pump Station Design (not just sewer/water lines)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred
  • CAD expertise
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability and willingness to engage in business development and networking efforts
