Job Description

Selectek is seeking an experienced Lead Permit Specialist to support telecommunications projects by managing and overseeing Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) permitting activities. This role is responsible for complex, multi-jurisdictional permits and serves as a leadership position, mentoring junior permit specialists while acting as a subject matter expert across all markets.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage and submit AHJ permit applications for city, county, state, pole, railroad, and other authorities
  • Serve as the primary point of contact with jurisdictions, maintaining strong professional relationships
  • Research municipal codes, utility requirements, and jurisdictional processes; maintain accurate documentation in company databases
  • Track the full permit lifecycle from application through approval, expiration, and renewal
  • Compile, submit, retrieve, and distribute complete permit packages (permits, approved plans, traffic control, etc.)
  • Submit and track aerial, joint-use, make-ready, and power applications as required
  • Maintain accurate schedules, forecasts, timelines, and cost data in the database of record
  • Review permitting deliverables across all markets; track due dates and provide weekly reporting
  • Travel to permitting authorities when required to support timely approvals
  • Act as a subject matter expert, supporting Drafting, Permitting, and Project Management teams
  • Train, mentor, and onboard junior permit specialists; develop training materials and process documentation
  • Maintain and update market “tips and tricks,” dashboards, and reporting tools
  • Participate in planning meetings, invoicing milestones, database improvements, and process optimization
  • Communicate effectively with Project Managers, Directors, VPs, and executive leadership
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience completing Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) permit applications
  • Previous telecommunications or utility permitting experience
  • Proven experience leading and mentoring junior permitting staff
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Pay: $29.00+/hr(pay depends on experience)
Term: 6-months temp to perm
