We have an immediate need for an Launch Engineer in the
Ft. Payne, AL area.

Job Overview
The Automotive Launch Engineer ensures new automotive manufacturing projects run smoothly from start to finish. This role involves:
  • Managing program activities after parts are molded, like testing (tryouts) and setting up packaging for Work-In-Progress (WIP) and customer products.
  • Leading activities under the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) to make sure everything meets quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
  • Project Management: Take new projects from concept to final build, managing timelines, and solving any issues that come up.
  • APQP Meetings: Run internal quality planning meetings to track project progress and resolve open issues.
  • Process Planning: Create plans for potential problems (PFMEA | Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) and control methods to ensure quality in production.
  • Launch Activities: Oversee activities such as production run tests, process setup (masking, trimming, assembly, packaging), and pre-production work.
  • Plant Layout & Work Instructions: Design plant layouts and write instructions for manufacturing and packaging.
  • Supplier Coordination: Work with suppliers to ensure the setup and approval of equipment and packaging.
  • Tryout Readiness: Organize and evaluate tests for new products to make sure they are ready for full production.
  • Compliance: Follow safety, quality, and environmental guidelines, and work to ensure a safe workplace.
Required Skills and Experience
  • Education: High school diploma required; a technical diploma is preferred.
  • Experience: 3-5 years in automotive manufacturing and experience with injection molding and automated equipment is a plus.
  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with software for design (AutoCAD, Solidworks) and Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Knowledge Areas: Basics of PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers), automated systems, vision systems, and multi-axis robots are helpful.
Additional Requirements
  • Training in safety and quality (such as APQP and PFMEA).
  • Skills in budgeting and planning.

Duration:  6 months
Pay:  $37-$40/hr.
