Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to join our team in Santa Clara, CA. The successful candidate will be responsible for electrical engineering, automation and controls design, project management, and overseeing field installations. This role requires leadership, collaboration, and the ability to work independently to meet project goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with programmers to develop instrumentation and controls logic.
  • Read, analyze, and interpret project documents, specifications, and proposals to clearly understand project requirements.
  • Evaluate life safety and regulatory requirements, including CA Fire Code, CA and National Electrical Code, NFPA, and hazardous location requirements.
  • Work with AutoCAD and Revit designers to develop monitoring and control system layouts, block diagrams, and wiring schematics.
  • Specify equipment, including toxic and flammable gas detectors, audible/visual alarms, instrumentation, process safety interlocks, PLCs, and related automation equipment.
  • Manage projects and customer relationships, preparing proposals, defining scope, deliverables, schedules, and budgets.
  • Coordinate field installations, testing, and inspections with the OAC team, focusing on customer service, problem-solving, and continuous improvement.
  • Prepare low voltage and power distribution plans, define control systems architecture and control loops, and develop detailed software design specifications.
  • Troubleshoot control systems and ensure process controls are effectively implemented.

Required Qualifications:
  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • EIT certification with the ability to obtain a PE license in CA.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience, or equivalent work experience and certifications that demonstrate a commitment to continuing education and professional growth.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting control systems and a solid understanding of process controls.
  • Working knowledge of control systems architecture and networks.
  • Ability to create and edit AutoCAD drawings.
  • Experience with low voltage systems and general load calculations.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to interact with all levels, including customers and contractors.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • P.E. License in California.
  • Knowledge of PLC and touch screen programming languages, specifically Allen-Bradley, Siemens, and others.

Location: Santa Clara, CA

Salary: $95K-$130K+ (Based on experience and license status)

Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Hours & Shift: Monday - Friday, Normal business hours (Flexible)
