Selectek has an opening for a Fiber Network Engineer/Coordinator in the Tucker, GA area.  This role will support planning, design, coordination, testing, and operational oversight for our expanding middle-mile fiber network. This role bridges OSP fiber engineering with network reliability coordination and NOC collaboration. It is ideal for candidates who are strong communicators, detail-oriented, and technically adept in both field and transport environments.
Required:
  • Education: Preferred - Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or Information Systems. Master's Degree in GIS
  • Experience: 5+ years network design/GIS experience including experience working with fiber optic plant. Previous utility experience preferred. Previous experience in GIS, AutoCAD, or other design work preferred.
  • Equivalent Experience: Associates Degree in Electronics, Computer Science, Information Technology.
  • Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations: UTC Level 1 & 2 - Fiber Optic Designer Certification or equivalent (strongly preferred).
  • Specialized Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, excellent organization, and time management skills, analytical, and creative problem-solving skills, ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitated by the work.
  • Must be able to pass a NERC CIP personnel risk assessment screening.

***This role will be working with a team of 5-6 people***

Job Details:

The Fiber Network Engineer will perform fiber design functions requiring competencies in project planning, building, and maintaining the company’s fiber optic infrastructure. They will independently develop, design, evaluate, select, and/or apply guidelines, procedures, and fiber design techniques and standards in an economically efficient and sound fiber designing manner. They will maintain and update documentation for fiber optic networks, including inside and outside plants. This position requires a strong understanding of fiber optic infrastructure construction, maintenance, and spatial planning. They must be skilled at creating and documenting splice plans for construction projects and updating Geographic Information Systems (GIS). The Fiber Network Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams including FOC and GSOC Network Engineering to create detailed designs, ensure optimal network performance, and contribute to the successful implementation of fiber optic projects.

Pay:  $48/hour - $50/hour ($99,000 - $104,000 annual salary)
Term of assignment: Minimum 12 months temp but could go longer - our current contractors are getting extended.   
Location:  Tucker, GA (30084)
Hours & Shift: Monday - Friday 8AM – 5PM (some flex)
Overtime: Not expected
Travel: Will need to go to client sites occasionally for field tests
Work Attire: Business Casual
WFH or Remote:  No, neither, 100% in office
Drug Screen: Yes, 5 panel
