Job Description
We have an immediate need for a telecom Fiber Designer that will be asked to design detailed fiber design and route plans.
General Duties / Key Responsibilities:
- Utilize QGIS or other design/GIS systems to create fiber designs, including feeder and distribution.
- Analyze network demand point data to create the most effective design.
- Provide CAD support for fiber systems by creating permit plans and profile drawings, construction drawings, and conduit designs.
- Provide exemplary project communication and adhere to project/jurisdictional requirements.
- Maintain a robust quality control/assurance process, including but not limited to: Completing validation checks and QA/QC of fiber designs.
- Design Fiber to the home, backhaul/transport fiber routes, MDU, and distribution/feeder design using provided design software.
- Perform fiber splicing of the fiber optic network via design software to ensure connectivity across fibers for the fiber splicing teams in the field.
- Detailed understanding of easements and rights-of-way.
- Ability to read and understand maps, plats, as-builts, construction drawings, and utility records is highly desirable.
- Any/all duties related to fiber-optic (or copper/coax) network designs that may be required for the project(s).
Required:
- two2 years designing fiber network solutions with an emphasis on FTTX networks
- QGIS, ArcMap, ArcPro, ARCGIS, AGOL, OSPInsight, 3GIS, or other GIS-based systems (preference will be placed on direct QGIS experience).
Pay Rate:
- $22/hr.
Shift and Hours
- Monday- Friday
- 8 AM- 5 PM (Flexible time)
- Yes (Hybrid)
Type of Job:
- 6 Months temp to perm.
