Job Description


We have an immediate need for a Structural Engineer.
The Civil Engineer for the EPC Division is an engineering position responsible for supporting both front end engineering design efforts and course of construction management for foundation design in the market of high voltage substations. This role reports to the Engineering Manager and Department Team Leader.

The Civil Engineer will have an active role in helping develop substation proposals, overall design, and subject matter expertise in foundations for ongoing EPC and Package projects.

  

Required:
  • Bachelor of Engineering (Civil Engineering) 
  • Professional Engineering License (preferred but will also consider level I,II, and III candidates) 
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong computer skills
  • Teamworking ability
  • Familiarity with ACAD Inventor, STAAD, PLS-Pole and other design software

Job Details:
 
  • Review equipment specification/data sheets for foundation and steel design.
  • Technically evaluate vendor proposals for major equipment for foundation and steel design.
  • Proficient knowledge of various substation designs to correspond to physical design standards.
  • Implement design standards for various structures and foundations.
  • Develop steel and foundation design standards for Silvey standard designs.
  • Develop engineering expertise to evaluate GeoTech Reports and Soil Reports.
  • Support pre-bid meetings and documentation by evaluating GeoTech Reports.
  • Implement GeoTech Report data into engineering and design processes.
  • Develop and maintain a system for evaluating design quality control and metrics for long term management of design group (internal or external).
  • Provide proper documentation for project drawings and other project documentation.
  • Provide detailed steel and foundation drawings with proper bills of material.
  • Review steel and foundation detail drawings for design accuracy and quality control.
  • Working knowledge of design software such as STAAD, PLS-Pole, ACAD Inventor, and other comparable design software.
  • Provide design support for structures and foundations for Design Engineers for EPC and Package projects.
  • Write technical documentation for steel and foundation calculations.

Review, stamp, and sign steel and foundation drawings for various projects
