Civil Drafter/Designer – Land Development Projects

 Location: Hoover, AL (Relocating to downtown Birmingham soon)

A  highly responsive civil consulting firm is seeking a Civil Drafter/Designer to join their close-knit engineering team. This role offers the opportunity to work on a variety of residential and commercial projects, including multi-family developments, institutional campuses, and small to medium commercial sites.

If you're someone who thrives in a collaborative environment and prefers the agility of a smaller firm over the bureaucracy of a large corporation, this could be the perfect fit.

Responsibilities
  • Produce 2D CAD drawings (plans, profiles, sections, details) for contract documents
  • Develop 3D CAD models and renderings to visualize complex features and structures
  • Maintain drawing files and digital assets in accordance with internal standards
  • Create graphics for engineering reports, presentations, and professional papers
  • Train technical staff on drafting standards and procedures
  • Support administrative tasks and office operations as needed

Requirements
  • Associate’s degree preferred (experience may substitute for education)
  • 2+ years of experience in civil drafting/design, especially in residential land development
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D
  • Strong understanding of land development processes from concept to construction
  •  
  • Hands-on experience with:
  • Site layout and grading
  • Storm drainage and utility design
  • Erosion control and road networks
  • Permit submittals and reviews
  • Field inspections and investigations
