Job Description

We have a 6-month, contract-to-hire opportunity for an Electrical Engineer with a government agency in Atlanta, GA responsible ensuring the electrical safety and functionality of our higher education construction and renovation projects.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

Reviewing and evaluating electrical design drawings and specifications for new buildings and renovations, primarily focusing on higher education facilities.
Ensuring adherence to all relevant codes and standards, including NEC, power, lighting, fire alarm systems, audio/visual systems, and IT systems.
Identifying and troubleshooting errors, omissions, inconsistencies, and conflicts within the design documents.
Verifying that all drawings meet safety and constructability codes, as well as campus and local agency standards.
Communicating updates and clarifications to construction teams during occasional site visits.

To be successful, you will need:

Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering
A minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical design, construction document preparation, and review for commercial or educational facilities.
Deep understanding and strong working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

We highly prefer candidates with:

Professional Engineer (PE) licensure
Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) certification
Experience in plan review for a local municipality or state government.
Experience as a commissioning agent or authority.
Background in facility management or working with facility managers during design, construction, and project turnover.
