Electrical CAD Designer

Job Description

We are seeking an Electrical CAD Designer to support oil & gas facility projects. This role focuses on electrical system design, including power distribution, hazardous area classification, conduit details, and field wiring. The ideal candidate is proficient in AutoCAD Electrical and knowledgeable of industry standards (NFPA 70, NEC, API RP 500).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop electrical designs and construction documents for industrial projects.
  • Utilize AutoCAD Electrical to set up projects, generate reports, and optimize workflows.
  • Ensure designs comply with industry codes and hazardous area classifications.
  • Design electrical systems for unit pumps, metering, tankage, substations, switchgears, and generators.
  • Work with PLCs, automated valves, and field instrumentation.
  • Provide mentorship to junior team members and assist with project planning.
Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of electrical CAD design experience in oil & gas or industrial facilities.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical (candidates without it will still be considered).
  • Strong knowledge of power distribution, cable tray, conduit details, and hazardous area classification.
  • Certificate in drafting or associate degree preferred (experience may substitute).
Compensation & Work Environment:
  • $25-$27/hr (higher rates considered for strong candidates).
  • 6-month contract-to-direct hire opportunity.
  • Onsite in Alpharetta, GA (no remote work while on contract).
  • Monday-Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM (flexible start time).
  • Minimal overtime expected.
  • 10-panel drug screen & background check required.
