Selectek is seeking a skilled Design Engineer to join a dynamic team in Bessemer, AL. This role focuses on designing new products, improving existing designs, and managing the product design lifecycle from conception to full-scale production. This is a direct-hire opportunity offering a salary of $90K+ and a 5% bonus.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop new products and improve existing designs using SolidWorks and FEA analysis.
  • Manage the product design lifecycle, including component design, prototyping, testing, and production implementation.
  • Document testing results in engineering test reports and develop detailed assembly procedures for the manufacturing team.
  • Lead Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) events to identify potential failure models and implement preventive measures.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to bring new products to market and redesign existing products for improved performance.
  • Represent the company at IEEE standards committee meetings and participate in high-voltage switch subcommittee discussions (preferred).

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Minimum of 5 years of product design experience.
  • Expertise in SolidWorks, 3D CAD, and Finite Element Analysis.
  • In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes, including sand casting, permanent mold casting, machining, and welding.
  • Proven experience in bringing new products to market and improving existing designs.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience designing substation equipment or products for the power industry.
  • Familiarity with high-voltage switch designs and IEEE standards.

  • Location: 5551 Parkwest Dr, Unit #115, Bessemer, AL 35022
  • Hours: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–4:30 PM CST
  • Compensation: $90K+ with a 5% bonus
  • Term: Direct hire (no sponsorship available)
