Controls Engineer / PLC Programmer
Location: Greenville, SC
Pay Range:
$80,000 – $100,000 per year (Option to take hourly pay + OT, or salary + OT after 50 hours/week), with flexibility depending on experience

Position Summary
We are seeking a Controls Engineer to support a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role focuses on PLC programming, electrical design, and process control system implementation for custom equipment and manufacturing solutions. The ideal candidate will contribute to both sustaining engineering efforts and new product development while collaborating across engineering, production, and customer teams.
Key Responsibilities
• Program and support PLC systems (Allen Bradley, Siemens, and others)
• Develop PLC logic using ladder logic, function block diagrams, and other programming methods
• Design and implement HMI interfaces for machine control and monitoring
• Support electrical design efforts using AutoCAD
• Participate in requirements gathering, system design, implementation, and commissioning
• Troubleshoot automation systems and provide customer support
• Assist with equipment setup, testing, and inspections
• Develop electrical BOMs and support quality and inspection documentation
• Provide cost estimates based on project requirements and available resources
• Support continuous improvement, cost reduction, and product innovation initiatives
Qualifications
• 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
• Strong PLC programming experience (Allen Bradley, Siemens, or similar platforms)
• Experience with HMI/SCADA systems and industrial automation technologies
• Electrical design experience using AutoCAD
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment
• Trade school or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with DCS systems
• Background in manufacturing, R&D, or custom machine design
• Experience with process control systems and instrumentation
• Certifications in automation or programming technologies
Additional Details
• Travel: Approximately 30%, with trips lasting 1–2 weeks at a time
• Travel expenses are covered, with additional allowance provided for incidentals
