Job Description


We are seeking a talented Controls Engineer to join our team, responsible for designing and implementing control system solutions from inception to completion. This role involves detailed design, configuration of instrumentation, system implementation, rigorous testing, comprehensive documentation, and user training.

Requirements:
  • Experience: Minimum 4 years in Industrial Controls within the architectural, engineering, or construction (AEC) industry or a related field.
  • Education: Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline from a Technical College, or equivalent industrial controls experience.
  • PLC Programming: 4 years of hands-on experience.
  • Allen Bradley: Proficiency in equipment and systems.
  • Programming Languages: Strong skills in PLC programming including ladder logic, function block, and structured text.
  • Networking: Familiarity with Ethernet/IP.
  • HMIs: Experience and knowledge in Human Machine Interfaces.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 6 years of experience in the AEC industry or similar.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD – Autodesk software.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with project managers and estimators to evaluate potential projects and prepare proposals.
  • Interpret diagrams and communicate effectively with customers to grasp project objectives and preferences.
  • Develop control system architecture and communication strategies.
  • Define and document control system functionality in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Create Bills of Materials (BOMs), IO lists, and control panel requirements.
  • Act as technical lead for small projects, designing PLC and HMI templates.
  • Develop PLC programs using ladder logic, function block, and other languages.
  • Design human machine interfaces (HMIs).
  • Create hardware and software test plans and simulate logic for PLC and HMI system testing.
  • Develop training plans and materials for operations and maintenance personnel.
  • Coordinate with installation management to ensure technicians adhere to documented processes.
  • Test installed systems to verify functionality and performance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve startup issues related to drawings, customer changes, instrumentation specifications, and technical problems.
  • Train customers on specific system integration software.
  • Interface with software and application vendors for problem diagnosis and resolution.
  • Collaborate with teams to address design challenges as needed.
  • Potentially respond to service calls to diagnose and repair system failures.
  • Mentor and train junior staff.

Salary Range: $80,000 - $110,000 per year
