Job Description
We have an immediate need for an experienced Industrial Controls Design Engineer. The role will act as an industrial drive systems hardware engineering helping with engineering calculations and design in AutoCAD Electrical.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work directly with project managers and engineers and purchasing personnel
- Prepare detailed engineering drawings including electrical schematics, power and network one-lines
- Generate schematic templates of components from manufacturer’s documentation
- Research and specify components to be used; when required
- Responsible for the overall quality of drawings and related documentation
- Generate bills of materials from specifications and drawings
- Establish and maintain custom AutoCAD menus and template libraries for components to ensure consistency and optimize efficiency
- Assist with cabinet, panel and operator station layouts
- Perform engineering calculations including electrical loading and short circuit current ratings, braking resistor value, etc.
Successful candidate should possess the following abilities:
- Understanding of electrical design concepts and processes, components, safety circuits and power distribution
- Ability to generate electrical drive control drawings from written descriptions
- Ability to independently perform design tasks per verbal and written direction
- Ability to read and interpret specifications
- Ability to interact with company personnel, customers and vendors while representing company in a professional manner
- Be responsible, reliable and quick-to-respond
- Possess time-management skills and be able to meet production schedules while managing multiple priorities
- Must be detail oriented, a self-starter, and a team player
- Must be willing to learn new products, standards and processes; as needed
- Be able to participate in design efforts with a team of engineers and drafters
Required:
- Electrical Engineering Degree
- 3 plus years of experience as Design Engineer for industrial control systems
- AutoCAD Electrical Proficiency (2014 or newer)
- Ability to read and interpret engineering documents and layouts of systems in regards to components and parts.
- Working knowledge of NEC<NFPA-79 and UL-508
- Working knowledge of AC, DC and Servo Drives
- Working knowledge of PLC and HMI platforms
Pay Range: $33-$40/hr
