Job Description


We have an immediate need for a Civil/Structural  Engineer that will be responsible for the design and build of foundations for substations. This role will support the sales team and the back-end project management team on high voltage substation design. The engineer will help develop proposals and overall design for foundations and steel structures for ongoing projects.

Job Duties:
  1. Review equipment specification/data sheets for foundation and steel design.
  2. Technically evaluate vendor proposals for major equipment for foundation and steel design.
  3. Proficient knowledge of various substation designs to correspond to physical design standards.
  4. Implement design standards for various structures and foundations.
  5. Develop steel and foundation design standards.
  6. Develop engineering expertise to evaluate GeoTech Reports and Soil Reports.
  7. Support pre-bid meetings and documentation by evaluating GeoTech Reports.
  8. Implement GeoTech Report data into engineering and design processes.
  9. Develop and maintain a system for evaluating design quality control and metrics for long term management of design group (internal or external).
  10. Provide proper documentation for project drawings and other project documentation.
  11. Provide detailed steel and foundation drawings with proper bills of material.
  12. Review steel and foundation detail drawings for design accuracy and quality control.
  13. Working knowledge of design software such as STAAD, PLS-Pole, ACAD Inventor, and other comparable design software.
  14. Provide design support for structures and foundations for Design Engineers and Package projects.
  15. Write technical documentation for steel and foundation calculations.

Required:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
  • 5 plus years of Foundation design for Substations
  • Familiar with design software such as: Inventor PLS-Pole, STAAD or other similar software
  • Strong Communication and Computer Skills

Preferred:
  • PE

Pay: $50-$70 per hour DOE
Term: 6 Month Temp to Direct
