Civil Engineer
(Birmingham, AL)
We have a great career opportunity for a Civil Engineer working for a diverse, growing consulting company in the Birmingham Alabama area.
The Civil Engineer Responsibilities Include:
* Overall, responsible for preparing construction documents, reviewing and preparing reports, maps, drawings and project documentation
* Create and perform civil project designs including land planning, road systems, traffic control plans, storm drainage, utilities, site grading, soil erosion, sediment control, hydrology, hydraulics, and storm drainage
QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
* B.S. Degree, Civil Engineering
* E.I.T. minimum with ability to obtain P.E. License within a year or two
* Preferred knowledge and proficiency with Civil 3D and other civil CAD design and simulation tools
* 4+ years of civil, site development, land development, transportation, commercial, retail, and other project design and construction documentation experience

John is originally from the Tidewater Virginia area and moved to Georgia for college where he majored in Electronics Engineering Technology. For fifteen years, he worked in television news broadcast engineering where he worked his way into technical project management until a layoff. After a few years operating a small business franchise, he found his way into an engineering and technical recruiting career where he could apply his technical and customer service backgrounds in a new industry for the next fifteen plus years to present day. His education and work experience as a technical project manager provides him unique insight into a variety of roles and success in finding great candidates for his clients. His career in technology, technical management, and technical staffing spans 25+ years.
When John found himself looking for a new opportunity, his search led to him joining the Selectek team in June 2021.
John lives in North Metro Atlanta where he spends his time with his wife and daughter. They enjoy kayaking on area lakes, hiking, bicycling, and all things pets and animals.
