We have an opening for a Structural Engineer in Kennesaw, GA.  This position will be heavily involved in the engineering to construction phase of industrial-related  projects.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering
  • Five to fifteen years of experience in the design and construction of steam and power generation plants
  • Experience designing concrete and structural steel support systems for heavy industrial projects
  • Experience using AutoCAD software 

Preferred:
  • P.E. License required, S.E. License a PLUS

Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate engineering for steam and power generation projects  
  • Design steel buildings and equipment support frames and platforms, hangers and guides and concrete foundations and slabs for steam and power plants
  • Maintain structural engineering design technical library with all applicable design standards, codes, etc., to ensure all designs meet current codes and practices
  • Investigate and analyze applicability of new design methods, technologies, standards, etc., to ensure designs remain competitive
  • Assist in estimating and providing man-hour budgets for structural engineering design for all new projects
  • Assist in preparing a drawing list to include the objective of each drawing, estimated man-hours, etc., at initiation of each contract
  • Review all project contract documents to ensure that all structural work will be within conformance of the contract documents and codes 
  • Document all design calculations and pertinent discussions with vendors and subcontractors by routing copies of all items to the main company files
  • Produce drawings that are clear, concise, and accurate
  • Accomplish scheduled work on-time
  • Ensure that structural bid drawings are completed in time to allow thorough checking prior to issuance to bidders
  • Review project schedule on a weekly basis to ensure that deadlines are met
  • Perform accurate material take-offs
  • Review pertinent vendor drawings for errors and omissions and to ensure compliance with the contract documents
  • Review and formulate response or solution to all field questions or problems with regard to the structural discipline
  • Assist in the maintenance of structural engineering standards and documentation manuals
  • Review and update CAD standards for accuracy and constructability
  • Travel to the field as needed throughout the duration of the project
