Bridge Design Engineer
Location: Minneapolis, MN
About the Role
We are seeking a talented Bridge Design Engineer to join a small, highly collaborative team in Minneapolis. This role will focus on designing cast-in-place and precast bridges and will involve work from conceptual design through fabrication drawings. You’ll have the opportunity to work on diverse projects, applying your engineering expertise to ensure safe, efficient, and innovative bridge solutions.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design and analyze bridge structures, including reinforced concrete, prestressed concrete, steel, and timber.
  • Prepare detailed design calculations, drawings, and specifications using AutoCAD and other relevant software.
  • Conduct bridge condition and safety inspections.
  • Collaborate with a small, interdisciplinary team to develop innovative engineering solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with AASHTO, state, and local design standards.
  • Prepare and review project documentation, including reports and cost estimates.
  • Participate in client meetings and project coordination.
Qualifications
  • BS in Civil Engineering.
  • 2–8 years of experience in bridge design with EIT or PE licensure.
  • Proficient in MathCAD, RISA3D, AASHTOWare BrR, and AutoCAD.
  • Experience with prefabricated steel trusses a plus.
  • Bridge condition and safety inspection experience.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a small team environment.
