Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Automation Engineer to join our client’s team. This role involves working on multiple projects with complex assignments that require innovative and original solutions. The Automation Engineer will play a key role in project planning, execution, oversight of junior engineers, and contributing expertise in automation and control systems. This position requires extensive knowledge of industry codes and standards, as well as advanced programming and troubleshooting capabilities.

Essential functions
  • Lead the design of projects involving automation and controls according to NEC, industry standards/best practices, and client standards
  • Performs electrical design in control system enclosures, panel layouts, wirings diagrams, PLC schematics, and loop diagrams
  • Generate all control system documentation as required by the client
  • Applies API RP 500, UL 508A, NEC, NFPA, and other related electrical codes
  • Extensive PLC and HMI programming & communication protocol experience with multiple vendors and various platform
  • Develop labor and cost estimates for potential project assisting with business development
  • Reviews work of junior engineers
  • Interface directly with clients on a regular basis to understand their needs
Required:
  • BS Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 6+ years’ experience with advanced knowledge in automation & controls design
  • Electrical design including control enclosure design, wiring diagrams, PLC schematics, motor and relay protection schematics, and loop diagrams
  • PLC and HMI programming experience with various PLCs and HMIs, Omni and/or Spirit flow computers, and/or Acculoads
  • Must have understanding and experience using various communication protocols; general understanding of networking and security
  • Able to utilize AutoCAD, MS Office, MS Project 
  • Good interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
Preferred:
  • PE
  • Experience with Oil and Gas pipelines, tank farms and facilities and associated standards
