Job Description

Selectek has an immediate need for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join a growing team in Phoenix, AZ. This role focuses on designing and delivering highly complex mechanical systems for one of the world’s most advanced semiconductor facilities. You’ll lead projects that demand innovative design, execution, and integration of advanced mechanical principles in contamination-controlled environments.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you will guide younger engineers, serve as a technical authority, and directly influence the success of a multi-billion-dollar semiconductor program.
Key Responsibilities

  • Tool Installations & Utilities

    • Lead the design of tool utility connections (PCW, exhaust, gases, drains).

    • Develop utility matrices based on vendor requirements.

    • Ensure compliance with vibration, acoustic, and EMI/RFI criteria.

  • Mechanical Systems Design

    • Engineer HVAC systems for cleanrooms and high-tech facilities.

    • Design advanced cooling/heating systems, ultra-pure and industrial water systems (UPW, RO/DI, process drains).

    • Develop specialized exhaust systems for hazardous production materials (HPMs).

  • Technical Execution & Compliance

    • Perform thermodynamic, hydraulic, and psychrometric analyses.

    • Ensure safety in design with ASME, ASHRAE, NFPA, SMACNA, and SEMI standards.

    • Lead design reviews, HAZOP studies, and constructability reviews.

  • Project & Site Involvement

    • Coordinate with electrical, process, structural, chemical, and controls teams.

    • Conduct site walks, surveys, and field verifications.

    • Support construction and commissioning with RFIs, inspections, and startup oversight.

  • Mentorship & Leadership

    • Serve as a subject-matter expert in mechanical engineering.

    • Mentor junior engineers and designers.

    • Contribute to a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (ABET-accredited).

  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in Arizona (or ability to obtain reciprocity).

  • Significant experience in mechanical design for semiconductor, cleanroom, or advanced industrial facilities.

  • Knowledge of tool install projects with design-build or fast-track delivery methods.

  • Proficiency with hydraulic modeling software (PIPE-FLO, AFT Fathom, AFT Arrow, etc.).

  • Strong background in HVAC, plumbing, fire protection coordination, UPW, PCW, and process exhaust systems.

  • Hands-on field experience with site verifications and troubleshooting.

  • Strong collaboration and communication skills.
Location: Phoenix, AZ (Northern Phoenix area – Onsite)
Employment Type: Direct Hire
Base Salary: $110,000 – $150,000+ (DOE; higher for senior-level leaders)
Schedule: Monday – Friday, standard business hours

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Revit or similar design platforms.

  • Previous leadership experience in guiding teams on large-scale industrial projects.
