We have an immediate need for an automation engineer that will direct the production automation of injection molding and various packaging processes for improvement. The Automation Engineer will participate in the design, setup, qualification and ongoing production of medical device production automation.  The Automation Engineer will oversee and manage the assembly of production automation at the selected automation supplier and on site at our production facility.  The Automation Engineer will be responsible for the on-going operation of assembly automation and will have responsibility for managing and mentoring multiple automation technicians.  The Automation Engineer will provide detailed procedures for electro/mechanical support to manufacturing in testing, building and evaluating various products, quality, or equipment design against customer specifications.

The role will include programming of PLC systems. The machines are set up on Mitsubishi servo motors.   It will also be essential that the Engineer have experience working with Vision Systems. This should include the set up and development of them.

Much of the role will be developing improvements and modifying existing equipment to ensure down time is minimized and production is maximized. Experience with Design for Manufacturing and Design for Assembly are both ideal.

It will be essential that candidates have worked in past highly regulated environments guided by cGMP, FDA, or ISO guidelines.  

This role will require the Engineer to have a firm understanding of not only the Automation/Electrical components but a good understanding of pneumatic/hydraulics as well to work with other engineers to provide custom solutions that consider all aspects of the equipment.

The Automation Engineer will be hands on working on the floor and teaching other Engineers and Automation technicians how to implement the improvements

 

Required:

-Engineering Degree (Electrical Preferred)  

-5+ years of Automation Engineering experience for precision equipment for manufacturing

-Hands on implementation of improvements

-Read Mechanical & Electrical Blue prints

-Experience w/ Vision Systems

-Ability to Program PLC’ s

-Molding Machine Experience preferably with Hydraulics and pneumatics

-Regulated environment background (cGMP, FDA, ISO)

 

Preferred:

-Six Sigma Green or Black Belt
